Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual and Transgender Career Resources

 

The workplace can vary widely in terms of openness and support of LGBT employees.  The following list of resources will offer you a starting point in considering issues that LGBT people have to face in the workplace:

  • www.hrc.org/worknet - The Human Rights Campaign Foundation’s workplace project, HRC WorkNet, is a national source of information on laws and policies surrounding sexual orientation and gender identity and expression in the workplace.

HRC WorkNet advises employees and employers on the value of workplace diversity. It collects, analyzes and disseminates information to assist employees and employers in implementing policies and procedures aimed at treating gay, lesbian, bisexual and transgender workers equally.

  • http://gaywork.com/ - GAYWORK.com is an online community for both the gay & lesbian individual looking for a job, as well as the global business community seeking GAYWORK.COM's diverse job applicants. Employers may place job listings, search our database of resumes or advertise on our website.  GAYWORK.com provides at no charge the ability for any job seeker to post their resume and search our job posting database.
  • http://www.glpcareers.com/ - GLPCareers.com is a job search engine providing employment opportunities and resources to the gay, lesbian, bisexual and transgender job seeker in the US.
  • http://www.gfn.com/ - The Gay Financial Network - Provides coverate of current events and articles, financial planning resources, and career advice. Visit their Career Center, powered by GLPCareers.com, to read articles about employment issues, get resume writing advice, and tips for successful interviewing.
  • http://www.fedglobe.org - Federal GLOBE's chartered purpose is to eliminate prejudice and discrimination in the federal government based on sexual orientation by (1) developing and providing educational programs, materials and assistance mechanisms which address the distinctive concerns and problems of lesbians, gay men, and bisexuals in the federal government and (2) educating the general public, policy makers, and federal employees about issues of concern to lesbians, gay men, and bisexuals.
  • http://www.hirediversity.com - HireDiversity.com - This website has resources for several diverse populations including African Americans, Asian Americans, disabled, gay & lesbian, Hispanics, Native Americans, and women.
